Wall Street
When though of the movie Wall Street many think of the newer one or also known as wolf of wall street. However not having seen this movie once after watching it all it truly opened my eyes as a young entrepreneur to know and trust who you go into business with because they also are there to make the most money possible out of this situation and at any moment, they may turn on you. How this movie starts out is bud is stockbroker that isn’t the most successful and wants to become successful. After skating on thin ice, he then lands a big deal with corporate raider Gordan Gekko. In this deal Gekko said he would mentor Bud if he gave him the inside info on the stocks of certain businesses and companies. After doing good Bud is given a little bit more rope to pull on and is given access to buy and sell whatever stock he thought was going to do good if he doesn’t make any mistakes and is making money not losing. He ends up losing a ton of money and Gekko gets upset with him and he says he is done but gives him a second chance. In this second chance Bud has a great idea to buy all Bluestar because he saw the value in the stock to own it and run the airline business broke. This Is the interesting part and really shows how greed can get the best of any entrepreneur, after not getting everybody on board, Gekko ends up going behind buds back to sell all his stock to make BlueStar go out of business and unemployed bud’s dad. This leads to a downfall of problems between the two and ends up them telling on each other to the law and gets both in trouble in the long run.
How this movie is entrepreneur is it is all in the movie, during it there isn’t many parts that aren’t entrepreneurial because the whole time Bud is trying to create and find value of stocks that would make him and Gekko the most money and he also was doing the things Gekko told him to do that would make him the most profit. Another thing that crossed my mind that we talked about in class and is a common theme in the movies we watched is know your rules and regulations before getting into it, even though Bud knew them he still went around them asking to get in trouble with the law. This movie reminded me a lot of the movies we watched throughout the semester but the one movie it reminded me the most of is "Other's People Money" it was like this film, which is an intriguing film about greed and people going behind peoples backs for the greater opportunity. The common themes are "Greedy is good" which are used in both films, which are also about the Wall Street stock market. In both films, businessmen are shown as selfish persons who don't care about morals or principles but only about making money by the narrative. This is especially true with entrepreneurs in society, which goes hand in hand with the course.
